Position Summary:

Our Progressive Care Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical

expertise and the highest quality care, in the most compassionate way.

Our Stepdown unit provides healing to general intermediate care patients

needing a higher level of skilled nursing care than on a Medical

Surgical floor, but do not need an intensive level of care in the ICU.

Our patient population includes post sheath removal, stroke, spine,

peritoneal dialysis, cardiac drips and much more receiving care from our

Under the supervision of the nurse manager or designee, the registered nurse provides holistic, individualized patient care in response to identified needs of the complex monitored patient. Additional functions will be performed in accordance with the AACN Standards and the Nurse Practice Act in a manner consistent with the mission of the goals of the organization.

Job Responsibilities

The Cardiovascular PCU RN provides direct nursing care in accordance with

established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare

organization. The tasks and responsibilities include:
Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.
Carries out physician orders.
Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs.
Provides cardiopulmonary management and monitoring for patients.
Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
Instructs and educates patients and families.
Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
Orients and mentors new staff members.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

BSN Required - Magnet Facility
Licenses/Certifications
TX RN or Compact State Licensure
ACLS and BLS

Experience
Must have at least one (1) year Stepdown, Progressive Care, PCU or

Intermediate Care RN experience in an acute care hospital - 2 Years is

preferred. Must have basic Drip and basic EKG Knowledge
