NATURE AND SCOPE:

This position reports directly to the Chief

Nursing Offices (CNO). The Unit Based Educator (UBE) & Nurse

Planner will plan, implement and evaluate activities involved in

providing continuing education to hospital clinical staff and medical

staff. The UBE will ensure that applicable trainings meet regulations

required by Montana Nurses Association and will assist in the

application for CNE accreditation when required.

POSITION PURPOSE:


To assist education department in planning and implementing programs to

assess and meet South Peninsula Hospital (SPH) clinical staff and

medical staff educational needs. To function as a Nurse Planner in

establishing continuing nursing education activities in collaboration

with Primary Nurse Planner, and maintain instructor status for American

Heart Association courses in Basic Life Support (BLS) Pediatric Advanced

Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

within 18 months of hire.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Must have an interest in learning and
education. Experience in planning, implementation or analysis of
evaluations in the field of education is preferred.
A minimum of two years general medical-surgical nursing experience required.
Prior experience organizing educational offerings is preferred

South Peninsula Hospital (SPH) is a combined 22-bed critical access hospital
and 28-bed long term care facility located at the southern end of the
Kenai Peninsula.

The position requires walking, standing for
extended periods, stooping and the ability to lift 50 pounds. Persons in
this position are exposed to infectious diseases, including blood-borne
pathogens, muscle strains, falls, and needle stick injuries. A
mechanical lift is available for lifting patients when needed.
Generally, physical demands are moderate and most work is performed
inside. Working hours may fluctuate based on scheduling needs and
patient census.
